Program Details

As part of the Clergy and Lay Leadership Development initiative, the Diocese sponsors several programs: Leading With Grace, Conflict Management, and Emotional Intelligence workshops.

Leading with Grace

We are looking forward to gathering together to worship, to work, and to share all that’s been going on in our lives and in our churches! Leading With Grace will now be split into four different sessions, with four different topics. With this new model, you’re able to pick and choose which sessions would be the best fit for you and your parish. All sessions will be held at Honey Creek.
Conflict Management Workshop

Knowing that conflict is inevitable and can be healthy and productive, this workshop gives a grounding in “use of self” in conflict. The goal is to increase your awareness of what is happening to you in a conflict, help you to identify your blind spots, and to increase the range of options you have for effective behavior.

Opportunities for self-assessment and feedback from other participants and trainers increase the utility of the training. You will learn how to identify low-level conflict (which can be positive) and conflict management skills, methods, and theory to help prevent conflict from escalating to levels that can damage the congregation.

Emotional Intelligence Workshop
Safe Church, Safe Communities

Several years ago, The Episcopal Church approved new Model Policies for the Protection of Children and Youth. Their expectation was that every Diocese would update its policies based on the new Model Policies.

This past September, Diocesan Council approved an update to our Diocesan Policies. These policies are intended to work in conjunction with the Safe Church, Safe Communities Training Modules, which can be accessed through Praesidium Academy.

They take effect for Diocesan Youth and Children’s events beginning on January 1, 2023. Each congregation will adopt its own policies either by formally adopting the Diocesan policies or by submitting any amendments in advance to the Bishop’s Office by emailing them to Canon Joshua Varner at jvarner@gaepiscopal.org.
